Do you ever think about starting over? Creating a new you and changing your life? I am constantly thinking of ideas to better the person I am. I want to achieve every goal and dream. My problem is I try to do too many things at once which sometimes ends in not finishing any of them. This is something I am working on everyday. Trying to focus all my energy on one or two projects before going crazy with ten!
There are so many ways to reinvent yourself. Getting a new job or changing careers. Getting rid of the people in your life that hold you back from accomplishing your goals. Finally sitting down and actually deciding what you want. There is one life change that I believe can give you the confidence and self-esteem needed to make changes in other areas of life. It is common sense that when you feel good about yourself, you are more likely to go after what you want. In today’s society there is a lot of pressure to look good on the outside. Although many of us HATE the pressures, I think we, ourselves, want to look good for us. I know when I look in the mirror and I’m disappointed in what I see, I am not thinking about looking good for others. I want to look good for myself in a way that appeals to me. To be proud, healthy and active is a dream I think most people have. Fitness and changing your body in a healthy way is a change most of us want to make.
I have a few ideas on how to take the giant leap to change. These, of course, are my own opinions. Some have worked for me and others are my best educated guesses on how to live a better life. I have a background in health but I am definitely not an expert on the science behind it. I am however an expert on inspiration, motivation and mental strength.
When it comes to changing your body, fitness and healthy eating is a must. There are many approaches out there that claim to work. I believe that there are no short cuts and in order to change your body with the intention of changing your life. It must be a lifestyle change that you make on your own. You have to decide to live a more active and healthy life. This is easier said than done, but it is doable. Here are my opinions on accomplishing this change:
1. I believe that any big change is easier when you are surrounded by people you care about. I think this applies to becoming healthier. If you have friends or family that want the same thing, you should definitely do it together. Support, encouragement and accountability make for a much easier transition.
2. Look for inspiration all the time, especially when you are feeling unmotivated. Something that works for me is Pinterest. Clicking on the Health&Fitness category gets me back in the mood to live healthy. The motivating quotes, healthy food ideas, and pictures of what your body could look like is a good jump starter for the drive to work out and eat clean.
3. My husband is a fitness expert and his approach to health is not an extreme one. He is sensible and understands that we are all human and going balls to the wall about changing all our habits is really not reasonable. I think having someone like this in your life to shed light on reality is a great thing. You can get a personal trainer who’s approach to fitness is one that you can understand and accept. You can follow people like these on Twitter and Facebook. They post tips, motivating comments and many will communicate with you if you ask questions.
4. Commit!!! This is the greatest thing you can do for yourself. Set small goals and work to reach each one. Hold yourself accountable and when you fall off, get back on quickly. Don’t set yourself up for failure. Make small changes and continue to build as you go.
I hope everyone can find what works best for them. To be healthy should be everyone’s main goal. A healthy body and mind leads to a more productive life.
