Hello August!

photo 2Many blogs are taking about their favorite fashion trends and Summer time recipes.  I won’t, since I’m not a big fashion girl and I hate cooking in the summer.  I do love beach days, swimming pools, summer night work outs and hanging out with friends.  Those are my favorite things about Summer!

I’m the kind of person that sets new goals by the month.  That’s pretty annoying.  Why do I have to wait for a new month to start something new!?  But this month I’m not going crazy with my goals and check list.  Some months just need to be simple and August is one of those months.

It’s technically the last month of summer although I’m sure here in So. Cal we’ll have summer like weather until at least October.  I’ve decided to do a couple things this month.  I’m going to try something new.  I don’t know exactly what that entails but I’ll let you know when I get it done.  I also want to spend some extra time with friends.  Dinners, movies, frozen yogurt and sushi dates, specifically.  I plan on swimming at least 3 days a week and soaking up as much sun as I can without burning. 😉  I will also continue to train for my first marathon.  109 miles is the plan for August.  I’ll be in Montana for a week so I’m looking forward to seeing some beautiful scenery on my runs there.

This year is going by extremely fast.  For the most part it hasn’t been a fantastic year for me.  But it also hasn’t been horrible and I guess we need those years where you simply just stand still.  I’m the kind of person that will create something to look forward to if nothing presents itself on its own.  (Hence why I decided to pull the trigger on running a Marathon before the year ends.)  Don’t get me wrong, a week in Hawaii, starting a new passion project, and making the decision to take my company in a new direction are all very exciting things.  But my life still isn’t really where I thought it would be by age 28.  And maybe that’s the problem.  We can’t live our lives according to how we think they’ll turn out.  I’m just having a hard time accepting that.

If anyone has any tips for me on that note, I’d love to hear them.

So in August, I’m just going to be.  I’m going to be happy and try to be content with the good in my life, while letting my frustrations go.  I’m going to do the things I love and spend time with the people I love.  What do you have planned for the last full month of Summer?  I hope it’s good!  Have a beautiful month and if the year isn’t going how you thought it would, look on the bright side, we still have 5 months left!
